Health Policy

Illness and Isolation

•       Parents are asked to keep their children at home if they have any infection. Parents are asked not to bring in any child who has been vomiting, or had diarrhoea, until at least 48 hours has elapsed since the last attack. Children should also not be brought to a craft session if they have a high temperature or infectious disease.

•       Parents are asked to be considerate when returning children to a craft session following a notable infectious disease, such as Covid-19, Chicken Pox, Mumps etc, and we request that the recommended isolation period is observed. Parents will be notified by a sign in the signing out area if there are any cases of infectious diseases, such as Chicken Pox, so they may be vigilant.

Respiratory infection, including Covid-19

•       Children who are unwell with such symptoms as a runny nose, sore throat and cough and/or temperature should stay at home until they feel well and no longer have a temperature. If a child has a positive COVID-19 test result they should stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 3 days after the day they took the test. After 3 days, if they feel well enough to attend and do not have a temperature, the risk of passing the infection on to others is much lower and they can return to holiday club. This is because children tend to be infectious to other people for less time than adults.

First Aid and Medication

  • Make, Do & Trend have been trained in based first aid. In the event of an accident, first aid will be administered to children in our care and the emergency services will be called if necessary.

Specific Needs and/or Medical Conditions

  • Make, Do & Trend recognises that the needs of individual children vary. It is our policy not to exclude a child and to endeavour to accommodate children with specific needs and/or medical conditions within the environment, wherever possible.

  • It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to record accurately any medical conditions and special needs or disabilities when completing the Booking Form, so we can discuss how best to accommodate the child and consider whether any reasonable adjustments can be made to ensure they are able to fully participate and enjoy the activities.

  • The needs of each child vary so decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and depend upon the level of support each individual child may require.

Behaviour Management

  • We reserve the right to ask to remove any child from a craft workshop where standards of conduct fall below those reasonably expected of children of that age group. On the rare occasion where parents/guardians are asked to remove their child, no refund will be issued.

  • We operate a strict no-bullying policy and all children are encouraged to report such incidents to us.

  • Make, Do & Trend supports equality and welcomes all children, regardless of their gender, ability, race or religion.

  • Our craft workshops aim to provide equality of opportunity for all children in our care and take positive actions to eliminate discrimination.
